In today’s society, it is almost inevitable to generate large quantities of solid residues, waste and environmental pollution.  Meanwhile, the greatest problem is how to manage the situation in terms of the cost to the society, the future and the environment.  


Fortunately, since the discovery of the EM technology™ many projects around the world have benefitted and received significant results in environmental sanitation. EM technology™ is extremely economic, natural, safe, easy to use and high quality.  It provides amazing results in the control of bad odors, in the treatment of natural spills, in the reduction and production of harmful gases and mainly in the decontamination of soils and water bodies.  EM technology™ is not only capable of treating the impacts caused my residue mismanagement, but it also integrates with certain management that can present an alternative for generating income; for example, the production of biogas and organic components.  Then use of EM technology™ is simple and totally adaptable to conditions that already exist.

EM•1® can be used to restore the physio-chemical and microbiological conditions of the soil.


Mode of use and considerations

•    100 to 200 L per hectare, at 4-8 applications per year.
For better and faster results, the following scheme of application and doses may be used:
•    1st year – 200 L / ha, 8 applications per year
•    2nd year – 150 L/ ha, 6 applications per year
•    3rd year onwards – 100 L/ ha, 4 applications per year
*Together with the application of Activated EM•1® , you should incorporate at least 5 tons of organic material per hectare.  The organic material can be cow manure, chicken droppings, harvest trash, vegetative material, etc.

Decontamination of soils

In some cases, EM•1® can be used as bioremediation of contaminated soil through fixation, chelatization of heavy metals and agro-chemical residues.  Residues of petroleum and oils can also be neutralized through composting.

Decontamination of rivers, lakes and lagoons


Today it is clear that water is very precious, Due to the adversities and many times the actions of human beings, many bodies of water are found to be polluted and eutrophicated.  This type of pollution is presented in various forms; nevertheless, the high concentration of organic matter and coliforms are the main ones.


Luckily, EM•1® can reverse these situations in a natural and economic way.  The efficient microorganism™ accelerates the natural decomposition of organic compounds which produces bioactive substances and eliminates pathogenic microorganisms through a process of fermentation.  Pathogenic microorganisms promote putrefaction and the production of harmful gases that contaminate water and produce bad odors.  Therefore, applications with EM•1® can possibly restore the natural equilibrium of aquatic systems and bring forth beneficial and sustainable effects.


Mode of use and considerations

•    1 L of Activated EM•1®  is used for each 1000 L of water to be treated
•    It is necessary to wait at least 1 to 6 months to evaluate the results; the time of waiting depends on the size of the body of water to be treated and the degree of its contamination.  If there are no significant results, the application should be repeated again and wait another month.
•    Once the desired results are achieved, the system must be maintained; in this case, monthly applications must be done at a dose of 1 L of Activated EM•1®  for each 10000 L of water.


The method of application (i.e. the dosage) may vary according to the conditions of the system, the locality and mainly the cost involved.  For this reason, consult with us for a more personalized assistance.
The concept is based on the fact that the more efficient microorganisms there are in the system, the more efficient they are. This allows for the process to be more rapid in terms of its decomposition capability and hence the restoration of the system.

Sanitary Landfills


A solution of 5% Activated EM•1® must be prepared and sprayed daily over the residues.  For larger sanitary landfills, the use of a spray tanker is fundamental to do the applications.  A spray tanker of 10 000 L is suited to spray the whole area of the landfill.  With this capacity just 500 L of Activated EM•1® in the tank needs to be diluted in water to complete the spraying.  It is highly recommended to do the spraying in the first hours of the morning.  


Use this same dosage to do the cleaning of tools and equipments especially for the washing of the garbage collection trucks.


Benefits
•    Eliminates the bad odors that are released from organic decaying residues since it decreases the production of Hydrogen sulphide and methane.
•    Helps in controlling dust
•    Promotes an accelerated, natural decomposition (2 – 3 weeks) of the organic material. This increases the compaction index and treats natural run-off.
